second shot ❀ video/action ❀ viridian city
Good morning! I have a couple questions, and this seems the best place to ask. Though first, I should probably announce- The last of the eggs from the Breeders' Convention hatched.
[And that should be easy to see. A little Swablu is curled up on her shoulder, trying to huddle under one of Mami's ponytails, while behind the girl on the grass is a dozing Petilil, and a tiny Eevee batting her paw playfully in the water. The group's relaxing at the edge of a waterfront, and everytime the Eevee starts a ripple, a baby Feebas surfaces to jump the raised line.]
Trista there was my last to hatch. And we're lucky it was here, since Viridian has this pond for her to swim in.
But I was wondering if anyone would know- Is there a point when it's too soon to evolve a Pokemon? I know Trista and Fulvia - my Eevee, that is - learn varying moves very early on, based on if I evolve them now or not. But I don't want to chance harming them by rushing it.
Also, there's another thing... [Mami glances back at the little ones, only to frown when she spots a tiny Litwick coming up behind Fulvia. The little thing looks ready to pounce and surprise them... and instead uses Toxic, bubbling the attack with a loud noise than sends Fulvia bolting for Mami's lap. But Trista? She splashes around in the uncontaminated part of the water, and shoots a Toxic right back at the dancing Litwick- who just uses Double Team to make it miss.
Mami, meanwhile, is trying to give them a calm cut-it-out talk... Which is ignored, so she sighs and speaks to the feed again.] I'm discovering the downside of powerful moves in young hands- They're getting a bit better about using them, but in the meantime there's a lot of trouble risked. Is there any good way to- [Suddenly, she and the whole group gets a face full of water when Trista looses her temper and uses Surf. Cue one near-fainted Litwick bowled over, a growling pair of Eevee and Swablu, and highly confused Petilil, and one drenched trainer.
Also one jumpy Feebas, giving sheepish, worried noises as Mami's blinks fleck the screen with water... A few seconds before it goes out. Anyone's guess if it's from water damage or not.
Either way, if you're running around Viridian you might spot Mami, walking back to the center soaking wet and a whining baby swablu on her shoulder.]

[ hopefully her gear is still working and she gets this... ]

-I was considering something like that- My Petilil can use Sleep Powder as well, after all.
It doesn't have any ill effects on your team?

[But they are babies, after all. And she's clearly relieved.]

Well, if that ever happens during my training I have Daring -my Meganium- use Sweet Scent to calm everyone down. Really works, too!
(She was once doused for a time with the attack herself.)
video
-oh, what sort of move is that? Is it another form of Sleep Powder?
[Calm does sound similar to "sleepy" in this case, after all.]
video
It's a Grass-type move, and I guess you could say it's another form of Sleep Powder. Instead of getting sleepy, you feel relaxed and...not worried about anything.
video
And she'd definitely be willing to help keep the peace here.

I was afraid that was the case.
Do you think she could handle the evolution? As soon as possible?

[Attachment: A picture of a shiny Milotic and a Glaceon post-evolution. They look quite happy about their new forms.] This was taken around the time they both evolved.

They're lovely, and do look very healthy.
And your milotic looks unique. From the pictures I've seen.

It's a little bit different with Eevees, though. If you hold off on evolving them, nothing's stopping them from learning their evolved form's early moves the second they evolve, but you also run the risk of having them evolve into an Espeon or Umbreon unless you're careful.
[He'll wait before he brings up those rather large movepools. No need to bog her down with too much at once.]
video
And once she can-]
I thought that was the case- And from what I can tell, Fulvia's learned most what she could as an Eevee already, thanks to her egg moves.
[And then there's her Feebas, who'll basically learn zilch, staying as she is.]
I just wanted to be sure evolving is something they can handle, this young.
video
[Said Vaporeon struts around in the background, pointing his nose at the ceiling like the prissy thing he is.]
video
Roght, then I'll stop delaying it. I've had no problems with Fulvia's moves, after all.
[Not that she's tried them in battle yet, but walk before you run.]

It's perfectly fine to evolve an Eevee whenever you want, depending on what moves you want it to learn. If you evolve it early, it will learn more moves of its evolution's type. I'm not exactly sure how the other one evolves, but if it evolves by trading or happiness, you should probably evolve it earlier rather than later-they generally tend to learn similar moves.
As for that Litwick of yours, though... after it evolves for the first time, you will probably want to hold off on evolving it with a Dusk Stone. As a general rule, Pokemon evolved with stones either stop learning moves or learn very few moves upon evolving.
video
I'm glad to hear that- I don't know what else my Eevee can learn as an Eevee, and I would have to hold back from training her, to get all of her evolution's moves. As for my Feebas, it has something to do with an item called "Prism Scale" but I'm not sure how it works.
[But speaking of evolutionary items, she blinks surprised at the last point.]
I see- thank you for that advice. My Pokédex can tell me which moves I can expect her to learn, right?
video
...I'm honestly not sure. I'm admittedly not very fond of technology, so if such a feature exists, I haven't discovered it yet.
video
...but, when you say "trading".
Does that mean I have to give her away?

First she went there, but of course Mami-san wasn't there anymore. She reached her near the Center.]
Mami-san! [Calling her name before she actually reaches her, then she started walking with her. Madoka didn't want to slow her down after all.] Are you okay? I saw the video -- nothing bad happened after it, right?
[Worried Madoka was worried. Some Pokémon attacks seemed so dangerous.]
action
Not to worry- That's a mighty move for a little fish, but she is only level one.
[It would be a while before Trista could hurt any of them- Except her Litwick, but type disadvantages.]
I just called them all back into their balls, before anything else happened. [Except her shoulder-swablu, who looks so sullen with her cotton wings wet.] Renata needs to be healed, but the rest are fine.
action
I'm glad to hear that. I forgot her level for a moment, because Pokémon can be so powerful even as babies.
[You just wait until your Togepi throws her first Flamethrower, Madoka.]
Ah, it's good that they agreed to go to their balls. I mean, I think they could get all caught up in fighting and didn't want to... [Sheepish eheheh laugh and she gives a sympathetic smile to the cotton bird.] I'm sorry, Renata.
Ummm, Mami-san, just in case... Maybe we should think of ways to dry their wings on the routes, if this happens again. Hmmm, fire types or other birds, or something like that.
action
[She knows from studies now her fish would have never learned all those powers just from training, so she's extra thankful to the giver.
And she gives a small chuckle at Madoka's apology, patting the Swablu on her head when she makes a confused noise.]
This one's Grazia, actually- Though I'm not sure she's quite used to that either, yet, are you? [A small, shy noise from the bird and Mami focuses on Madoka again, while walking into the building.]
But that's a good point- It'll make fires extra important, while we're on the road, especially while it's cold. We don't want to leave them wet or freezing.
